Mark "Flying Fingers" Rockwell will be playing piano from 11:00 AM until 400 PM.
The Easter Bunny will also be in attendance ready to greet all of our guests.

Reservations are highly recommended.

The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (JDIFF) is a premiere Midwest event showcasing independent films from around the world and will be in Galena for a festival pre-event, in partnership with Galena Country Tourism, starting on Friday, April 8th, 5:00 PM with an outdoor film on Green Street Plaza.
Films will continue all day on Saturday, April 9th, in the DeSoto House Hotel's Smith and Parker rooms from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and with a closing film outside again in the Green St. Plaza that evening.
Films will be a mix of Documentaries, Features, and Shorts that will also be shown in the 5-day festival April 20 - 24th.

Bring your entire family to JDCF’s annual frog walk along the Galena River Trail.
Our special guest will be amphibian expert Tony Vorwald from Jackson County (IA) Conservation who will lead us in a frog call survey. He will also bring some critters with him including turtles and snakes.
The walk will start on the east side of the Meeker Street footbridge in downtown Galena.

The Galena & US Grant Museum is hosting many events in his honor:

The Galena & U.S. Grant Museum and the Old Blacksmith Shop will offer FREE admission from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Elihu Washburne Home, 908 3rd Street, will be open to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The tours are free of charge, but donations are appreciated.

Our Annual Pie Auction will be held at the Spotsie’s Parking Lot, 403 S. Main Street, beginning at 11:00 am.

General Grant and Julia will be on hand at 1:30 pm to greet visitors and present insight into their lives in Galena at their pre-Civil War home located at 121 S. High Street (Museum is the alternate venue for inclement weather).

Historic Turner Hall will be the site for a Community Dinner and the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau presentation of the One-Act Play entitled “Mr. U.S. Grant: A Man and A Patriot!”. The doors open to Turner Hall at 5:00 pm with dinner at 5:30 pm. This is a ticketed event.

An After-Dinner Reception, at 7:30 pm, will follow at the Galena & U.S. Grant Museum.

The Galena Methodist Church will offer a special Circuit Rider Service for the Grant’s and the community featuring National Chaplain of the SUVCW (Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War), Jerome Kowalski. This was President and Mrs. Grant’s place of worship for 15 years.
